Thanks guys. Yeah, Im definitely not imagining the next big thing like a Linux competitor. But I do enjoy tinkering with 6502 assembly, and having a real usable platform to do it on, instead of an emulator, seems like an interesting project to me. I have zero interest in x86 or other CPUs really. Th...

So, what's the point? 1. Your program/OS would emulate a 6502-based computer, that is not supposed to be realised in real HW. This misses the use of an emulator to aid in cross-developing programs. 2. If the purpose of your OS is to provide a platform independent means to run a program, why not use...

6502 based OS - for real
Guys, I think we are getting really close to pulling this together. Emulation is great, but I would propose we pull it down to a lower level. There are a couple of projects out there such as Cosmos (for C# developers) which build a bootloader and can run managed code as an operating system. Another ...

One thing I did recently for the heck of it was: 1 - Install MS-DOS 6.22 on an older machine 2 - Install dosVICE on the machine 3 - tweak the autoexec.bat so that x64 would run at startup 4 - modify the configuration so that drive 8 points to an empty folder (I called it CBM), and drive 9 points to ...

I dont know if its new in this release, but I also noticed (at least on the VIC emulator) that I can now move the VICE window across a dual monitor setup and the screen will refresh just fine. (Prior to, on my setup, the emulated machine would appear to freeze - moving back to the original monitor w...

Re: How do you find the instruction alignment when disassemb
Wouldnt they just ask for the starting address and disassemble from there? I dont think a disassembler could know how to align it properly without help.matsondawson wrote:How do disassemblers normally do this?

OT (Somewhat): Commodore programming Wiki
Just an invite if any of you also code for the 64 or 128 to visit the commodore programming wiki Ive been working on:
http://commodore64.wikispaces.com/
I could use some contributors as well, but hopefully there's some stuff in there you may find useful.

I wrote a modem emulator Window service (it runs all the time). Just hook up your vic via a null modem to the PC and you can download directly. In addition to the basic AT commands to dial out, it also listens on a specified port (for like a BBS). It also includes DIR <path>, GET <file> and XGET <fi...
