Re: DIN plug psu - plastic grenade?
LOL! Your Vic is a weapon! I still use my CR DIN power supply's with my Vics but know this is not a great idea. I do think I am an outlier in this respect. From what I have read many people use newer power supplies. I still use the cassette a lot so I would need the 5 and 9 V supplies. Not to take o...

Re: Modify VIC-20 for USB power supply?
A lot of laptops used 9V line lumps. At some point I plan on going to my used junk store (Value Village) and getting a used one for my 2 prong Vic. The old 2 prong Vics line input was 9V AC and it separated everything inside. That power section, as I remembered used to get REALLY hot. Maybe it would...

Re: Introducing VFLI for VIC-20: 208x256 pixels in 16 colours!
For TL;DR: I built a VFLI vic in 2013. Thought it was broken in 2014. After sitting in a box for some time I decided I HAD to see why my VFLI Vic wasn't working. From many of the new threads on fixing Vics it seemed like a memory problem. Long story short, I removed the piggybacked 2K chips and chec...

Re: Colour Memory why does it move?
Thanks Mike, I knew you would have the answer!
By the way I just hooked up my VFLI vic yesterday, it turns out the 8K (16K) chips just needed to be re-seated. So it works fine. I will have to post video on YouTube when I have time!

Colour Memory why does it move?
I looked to see if this was covered elsewhere but the search engine for the forum isn't the greatest.
So I understand why memory has to move when expansion memory (greater than 8K) is inserted (so BASIC has a contiguous space). But why does colour memory have to move?

Re: Need help with CBM prg Studio
You can always Build -> Program -> PRG or D64. But I would recommend a BASIC stub or at least 0,0,0 if your program starts at the beginning of BASIC. I have had SO many problems with BASIC trying to re-link over my ML. It is not fun.
And yes CBMPS is the best!

Looks good! I always find I dream too big and have to be a little more realistic with my programs. <chop>

Re: Castle Queen
Sorry it has taken so long but I fixed the loader so it won't push the screen off to the side for PAL computers. New .D64 in the ZIP.

I'm not sure if this is the right place for this, move if needed. I thought it would be nice to have a repository of fonts for the Vic. So here are a few on a D64. They are the full 256 characters starting at 6144 to 8196. You will need 8K expansion and may have to juggle memory or the characters ar...

Re: Castle Queen
My apologies Mike, that's exactly what it does. It changes the vector at $0302. But the code starts at 820. I made a little program that just gets the file name and saves this loader, so I actually haven't looked at the code for years.
