Re: WTB: Cardco Cardboard 6
I wouldn't think much more, maybe another 0.1". Enough to get a bit of fresh air between them and not rub or scratch the labels when they are pushed in or taken out. I just measured the gap between cartridge slots on a Cardboard 6 at 0.4" and the pitch at 0.77".

Re: WTB: Cardco Cardboard 6
I wouldn't attempt to fit the largest available cartridges in it because of the extra cost involved - I have an 80 column cart that is about 2x the thickness of a standard one. People can always sacrifice one slot for something big like that. As long as the spacing is large enough to accommodate car...

Re: Any interest? Final Expansion 3 (UK)
I mostly use a Cardboard 6 including authentic 80's style foil wrapping around the ribbon cable so it actually works reliably.

Re: De-yellowing your VIC-20 case
You don't need the UV lamp, but if you don't have one keep the container somewhere warm (do you have an airing cupboard?) and be prepared to wait a few days, and it will change color eventually.

3d models of cartridges
Hi There are quite a few 3d models of standard Commodore game cartridges around if you want to make a reproduction of a classic Commodore game, but what if you want to reproduce another manufacturer's style of cartridge? I decided to reproduce some of thoe I have so I can still get the nostalgia kic...

Re: De-yellowing your VIC-20 case
RAL Codes are a European standard, we don't use them over here. Actually I am not sure there really is a standard here. Typically you would go to a paint store and ask for a color by name - all of the big suppliers have lookup tables to compare their names with the ones used by someone else. You can...

Re: 3D-printed case?
3d printing something as big as a VIC 20 case requires a bigger printer than most home ones, or a bunch of small pieces that would have to be glued together and would take a lot of time. Consequently, the price you would end up paying for one would probably be quite a lot higher than just picking on...

Re: Cartridges!!!
As a kid I only had Sargon II and The Count on cartridge. I know it's not the greatest game, but my favorite cartridge today is Amok! I grew up in the UK, and it was released on cassette there, not cartridge. To be able to play it by just putting a cartridge in instead of waiting five minutes for it...

Re: Jeff's VIC 20 Book
If you order the spiral bound one from Lulu it should last longer if you are using it a lot. Personally, having it spiral bound adds a burst of retro feel to it and makes it feel so much better as I have so many memories learning programming from spiral bound computer manuals from my youth.

It's not quite that bad. As well as the individual files, for each book or magazine there are one or more .d64 file at the top of its page, so you can download a floppy's worth of files at a time.

Re: Vic-20 Donor Board Problem ?
That looks like a faulty BASIC ROM. To test if it is without desoldering, if you have any game cartridges then boot with one inserted, and if the game runs then BASIC is faulty. Note, this only works with a cartridge that boots directly at start-up (ie not a Scott Adams adventure)
