Re: What size of memory do most VICs have now?

Everyone has an unexpanded VIC!
We just decide sometimes to use more.
The big plus for me for +3k or unexpanded is the loading times, to other is the programmnng challenge of cramming the game code in less than 5k.

Re: wAxpander with wAx2

The cost of shipping to the UK put me off from buying the wax cart, with all the extras built in I'll be more than tempted.

Any idea of the price?

Oh, this is very likeable.
I imagine this could produce some wonderful and fast low res games.

Thanks again chysn, often your programs take me down worm holes.

Re: 1540 memory write

8bit guy has a episode on the CBM disk range.
Skipping the first section, he explains some of the little differences between the 1540 and the 1541
https://youtu.be/6QBXY8dx8ZA?t=139

I'm hoping it may help as it kinda explains the firmware difference.

That really looks good.
Ive been toying with some ideas for a simple platformer but that way outclasses what I'm imagining.

Great work.

Re: New retro Vic-20 clone

8bit guy had a Youtube episode

Are they available for purchase yet?
I've bought 4 VICs now and each one has some issue and Im not techy enough to find the faults.
This could be very cost effective way instead of my hunt for the perfect VIC.

It looks very nice.

Re: Jiffydos and 32k mem board?

I was very excited when I found this online, wanted to try jiffydos and the extra memory being internal really appealed.
I didnt post anymore on this as I had nothing positive to say.
Very 'flimsy', damaged legs in the packaging on arrival.
Hope you have more success than I did.

Re: "... I'm too old to start learning machine code!"

I'm started out on my 6502 adventure at 50 and I'm loving it, slow progress but I like to understand every bit I've learn as I go. (no pun intended) I used to code in z80 many moons ago so its not an alien language to me but still very different. WAX is the way start, mixing MC and bits of basic for...

Re: MCL65+ 6502 Accelerator Board

As this can access the full 64k then it could be a easy/inexpensive way for Mike's inbuilt 3k stuff to work for us mere mortals. It would be nice to have the full memory range to play with. So I see that on your page that the VIC20 dev wasn't as fast(+15%) as you had hope, does this mean the project...

Re: Vic-20 Power Switch (2 pin power version)

hi Brad, I recently got myself a vic (or 2)too. I think the best answer is live with it and it'll free itself up, Although i did squirt a tiny amount of WD40 in there. Theres a guy on youtube who dismantled his switch and rebuilt it and I've seen some with replacement switches hanging out on wires. ...
