Re: New game: Vegetables Deluxe - VIC20 3K +8K (blk0 and blk1)
I've seen some other games list the +3K +8K too, and I've thought that was a bit odd... You'd care to cite actual examples? Looks like you are right... The ones I was thinking I was seeing look like they actually had a 3K and an 8K version, not requiring both. (Like Panicman) I saw "3k/8k"...

Re: New game: Vegetables Deluxe - VIC20 3K +8K (blk0 and blk1)
Picked this one up... Fun game... Admittedly, I haven't tried it on my real Vic yet, as I need to re-organize the office a bit. Darn cleaning up for the holidays!!! ;-( ;-( ;-) I've found the two most common RAM configs I've been using are unexpanded and fully expanded, and with the emulator at leas...

Re: Anyone have success running "PET LOADER"
I think the Avalon Hill games were programmed in almost vanilla (i.e. cross platform) BASIC so they could easily be ported across systems. Therefore I would expect few to no POKEs. Makes sense, since the game I have on tape on side A had Apple and TRS-80 and side B is PET. ;-) In fact, If I can get...

Re: Anyone have success running "PET LOADER"
Yeah about the Pokes. According to Techtinkering, the best program for PET compatibility is Vic40/Fat40. https://techtinkering.com/articles/40-columns-in-basic-on-the-commodore-vic-20/ I've only tested one basic BASIC :-) PET program (Avalon Hill's NukeWar) and that worked fine in several of the 40 ...

Re: Introduce Yourself: What's your User Name based on?
Hi, and welcome! Wow, you had a SX64.. do you still have it? Sort of Grail for Commodore collectors :) I wish kind of... I sold it to help pay for my Amiga 500, monitor and external floppy. I was using the SX in college, and word processing and Pascal on the C64 were just not all that great. Did wo...

Re: Introduce Yourself: What's your User Name based on?
I suppose I should have done this when I first got on here. (Wasn't that long ago, but still..) There is a really interesting story about my username, desiv... ... OK, No there isn't. ;-) My first name is Desi. Last name starts with a V. So much for intrigue. ;-) Anyway, like a lot of you, my first ...

Re: Using FAT-40 to circumvent LIST protections
Anyway I extracted the VIC-40-program and uploaded it to my site: Thanx! Just getting back into the Vic-20 and part of my new collection were 2 Avalon Hill tapes with PET versions of the games. I got Nukewar running on my Vic (once I got the RAM expansion, as it needed 16k), but quickly realized th...
