Re: Plus/4 joystick adapter
I just wanted to follow up on this..I made a final version that contains the 74ls244 and resistors on a mini PCB attached to a DB9 male connector and enclosed in a 3d printed case. The wire is a Apple Mac serial cable - It is the correct mini DIN. I ended up keeping the 220 ohm resistors in the desi...

Re: Plus/4 joystick adapter
Yeah, I will try a few. The 244 is pulling the lines down, I'll use a scope to find the best value now.

Re: Plus/4 joystick adapter
Thanks for the suggestion. I will give it a try, that's one thing i was thinking about. It's on a breadboard now so it's easy. It is well known that it's almost impossible to find a TED chip so I don't want to be the cause of it's demise. And I had to try this new game - Pets Rescue. It's pretty goo...

Plus/4 joystick adapter
I've always been wary of building or buying a Plus/4 joystick adapter because of people blowing out their TED in some cases. As I understand it the Plus/4's joystick port it very different than the C64/VIC-20 etc. because it uses a "Select" line to select the joystick to scan. I didn't lik...

Re: RAM expansion cross-talk issues
Monolithic semiconductors get out of spec when they fail! I just want to note that I did have a 244 line driver on a C128's RGB output that was causing a distorted output when the screen was half filled and beyond, but with only a few lines it was fine. The chip tested fine when each buffer ...

And for people in areas with NTSC there are even fewer "good" games because most are PAL.

Re: In the making: Arukanoido – an Arkanoid clone
I ditched IT myself so I totally understand. I actually owned an IT company I founded in 2001. I ended up just getting sick of the work and closed it in 2015. It's a good rule to not let hobbies interfere with life...they are for spare time. I'm still looking forward to this game! Thanks for making ...

Re: Tapuino?
I found a FAQ. With the C2N card edge connector present it can do:
Tapuino to computer (loading)
computer to Tapuino (saving .tap)
C2N cassette to Tapuino (.tap)
Tapuino to C2N cassette. (From source .tap file)
No analog functions.

Re: Tapuino?
You usually can connect a second tape drive to it on the commercial versions. As to the operation of the second drive maybe someone above can answer that as my version doesn't have the connector. You can save to it also and it creates a .tap file.

Re: Tapuino?
Works with turbo loaders. Didn't work with mine for at least one user here but with another hardware emulator whose name I forgot.. :( If you mean Pulse, yes it loaded fine on mine. Maybe the newer ones have an issue but I haven't had a single compatibility issue with mine. Mine is an early version...

Re: Tapuino?
I built an early version and it's basically a tape drive emulator. You can load .tap images or save them from the computer with mine. Works with turbo loaders.

Re: High density
I always thought that HD disks were made with a finer material but applied to the disk in a thinner layer that actually resulted in a lower flux density but higher granularity than DD disks. And with the higher signal level of a DD drives writing, it got over saturated leading to distortion. This, a...

Re: Cartridge identity?
Whoa.. ok, I didn't think this would be of such interest and now I'm pretty nervous about doing anything with it! I don't have facilities or expertise (or even a Vic 20), and far be it for me to want to carelessly obliterate any potentially interesting bit of Vic 20 history. So can I offer this car...
