Re: Pinout for a ChalkBoard PowerPad cable?

Yes. Thanks very much, Mayhem. And Saundby as well! The cable was made for Robert Bernardo's PowerPad and it works very well. For anyone interested, the original type of control port connector can be found at Dig-Key.com It has multiple parts. These are the manufacturer part numbers: 207753-1 207752...

Re: Pinout for a ChalkBoard PowerPad cable?

OH, hi! ;) Yeah, I figured I'd ask about the PowerPad cable here as well. Increases my odds of success. Not too many of these things around apparently and I gather the cord was easily lost. And I'm not likely to find just the cord for sale somewere. The person I'm doing this for has two pads both wi...

Good points.
And Commodore was using aluminum labels on their computers and disk drives so putting them on cartridges too might be expected.

Metal lable on older carts for RF shielding?

Hi guys. Just wondering what you might think...
Could the metal lable on early VIC-20 cartridges have been for RF shielding? It seems like an expensive way to make a lable otherwise.

Maybe later they determined it was unneccessary and stopped using them on the newer carts.

Yeah. I wonder how many were actually sold? It's an intersting piece of hardware, to be sure. But by the time it came out (about 1985) I think you could get software and hardware for the C64 that could do most things you could on an Apple II/II+ I'm sure many found it rather superfluous. The ability...

Yes. It's gigantic! And it does have its own power supply built in.

Here's a story about it from Mimic Systems' lead software developer
along with pictures showing the inside.

I remember the ads shown here with the mime :)

PETSCII graphics on an Epson printer?

Hi all.
Does anyone know if it's possible to print petscii graphics with a Super Graphics printer interface and an Epson FX-850?

If so, can you tell me the settings?

It would be interesting to see how yours is further modified inside, if the trace leading to the switches is cut then there must be a jumper or even more cut traces. I just took mine apart and it looks exactly like yours except it has a fuse under the board, bridging the cut trace. All the numbers ...

I saw this exact expander on Ebay a few days ago and it had the small "trace cut" in the exact place that mine did. It is definitely built this way. Maybe it was an after the fact defect that they had to repair. I think you right. It must have been something like that. Well if I had a &qu...

No. It would be hard to show with pictures. But you can try it with yours perhaps and see if it does the same thing.

Yes, it looks as though sombody took a drill and lightly penetrated the board until the trace was cleanly cut. Everything works fine (all ports functioning) despite the cut. Hmm. So it might have been done by the manufacturer. It's been a while since I checked it, but as I remember when I put a car...

Does the trace look like it was cut with a small drill bit? That's what mine looks like.
