Ripple looks ok and pin4 on the 555 is showing same 4.5(ish)v, but pin 40 on the 6502 is only showing 0.616v I think C42 is bad (250403 board) as not getting any voltage over it and it looks a bit tarnished on top and isn't a clean looking as the others. I Get continuity from FB17 to all reset point...

Before I drop cash on a new Kernal I think trying the 74LS245's might be worth it. My vic20 (cr version) a DM74LS245N in UD8 and M74LS245P in UE8. Havin a look around the net I am just wondering if any of you can confirm that any chip listed as 74LS245 would be compatible?

OK so Ray Carlsen says UAB1 can cause blank screen if sorted so i pulled it, but no change.

Are UAB1 and UAB3 expected to get hot? Perhaps UAB3 is faulty if not?

Ran a chip heat test, cpu, kernal, basic all warming up as is the vic and the chip marked uab3 but uab1 stays cold.

Thoughts?

I think I can try powering it up without that chip if I am right?

OK so measuring between 6 & 7 shows 12.11v - I was measuring 6 and GND and 7 and GND (6 and GND sows 9.6v). 5v shows as 4.95v between gnd and pins 4/5 but dropped to 4.5v when switched on.
